Virtual Classroom Software | BigBlueButton | WarmIndex

BigBlueButton is an open-source web conferencing system designed for online learning, empowering educators to create engaging virtual classrooms for students worldwide.

🚀 Overview

BigBlueButton (BBB) is a complete, open-source virtual classroom platform tailored for education. It goes beyond simple video calls by integrating tools that promote active learning, collaboration, and assessment in online environments.

It solves the critical problem of student disengagement and poor outcomes in remote learning by providing pedagogy-focused features like interactive whiteboards, breakout rooms, polls, and real-time engagement analytics. Studies show students using BBB achieve higher grades compared to traditional in-person classes.

BBB is built for teachers, students, schools, and institutions—from K-12 to higher education and government organizations. It's integrated into major LMS like Moodle, Canvas, and Sakai.

Started in 2007 by the Technology Innovation Management program at Carleton University, BBB was created to make online teaching more effective and intuitive, fostering better collaboration and learning results.
