Movim is a responsive, cross-platform web client for the XMPP protocol that turns the decentralized XMPP network into a full-featured social platform with chat, blogs, communities, stories, and video calls.
It solves the problems of proprietary social media platforms by providing a standards-compliant, federated alternative with end-to-end encryption (OMEMO), no ads or tracking, and full user control through self-hosting or public instances.
Built for individuals, friends groups, companies, classrooms, or XMPP enthusiasts who want secure, private communication and sharing. It was created in 2010 by Timothée Jaussoin (edhelas) as a hobby project during his work in social platforms, and has been maintained in his free time for over 15 years.
