Offen is a fair, open-source, self-hosted web analytics tool that lets users access their data while giving site owners privacy-respecting insights.

🚀 Overview

Offen Fair Web Analytics provides an ethical alternative to traditional analytics tools like Google Analytics, which are often opaque, privacy-invasive, and reliant on third-party tracking. It emphasizes fairness by requiring opt-in consent, using end-to-end encryption, first-party cookies, and allowing users full access to and control over their own data via the "Auditorium" interface.

This project solves the problem of unfair data practices in web analytics, enabling site owners to gain valuable insights (unique users, sessions, top pages, retention, etc.) without compromising user privacy or GDPR compliance.

It's built for website operators, bloggers, small teams, and organizations who prioritize transparency and self-hosting.

Offen was created to build a more equitable web analytics ecosystem, starting development in 2019, reaching maturity by 2024 with support from the NLnet Foundation.
