LAN Party game caching made easy
Categories:
LANcache.net is an open-source solution for caching game downloads on local networks, enabling LAN parties and multi-gamer households to download large game files once and serve them locally to multiple users.
LANcache.net dramatically reduces download times and bandwidth usage at LAN parties or in shared networks by acting as a transparent cache for game content from major CDNs. When a user requests a game from Steam, Epic Games, Battle.net, or others, the system intercepts the request, caches the content if not already present, and serves it locally to subsequent users at LAN speeds.
This project solves the common pain point of limited upload speeds bottlenecking multiple simultaneous game installs, turning hours of waiting into minutes of playtime.
It's built for LAN party organizers, homelab enthusiasts, and gamers sharing internet connections with family or roommates. The creators built it to revive the fun of LAN gaming events, evolving from earlier projects like SteamCache.
