Proton provides a full suite of privacy-by-default services that keep your data under your control with automatic end-to-end and zero-access encryption. Founded in 2014 by scientists who met at CERN, Proton started with encrypted email and has grown into a comprehensive privacy ecosystem including VPN, drive, pass, and collaborative tools—all accessible with one account across devices. Based in Switzerland, it leverages strong privacy laws, funds itself through subscriptions without ads or data sales, and is governed by the nonprofit Proton Foundation.
